Kimmeridgian marls are a type of limestone soil found in the Pouilly-sur-Loire region of France, where some of the greatest white wines in the world are produced. These soils are composed of marl and limestone rich in marine fossils dating from the Kimmeridgian period, around 150 million years ago.
